In 2005 when I joined JCI Santa Clarita, I was just an account manager for L/B/W, now I run that department. The skills that I learned by running events with the Jaycees gave me sound people and business management skills that I was able to apply at work. I encourage anyone who is joining the Jaycees and wondering what they can get out of it, to step outside their box and get involved in the running of an event and learn to use our CPG! It will change the way you plan your work, and your life!

In 2005, I applied for a position as a technical trainer. I was hired, and my new boss told me my JCI training certification and experience and is what lifted me over the other candidates. That investment in JCI paid me back to the tune of five figures and gave me a career I still love to this day.

As the co-chair of Santa's Helpers 2010, I had the privilege of not only organizing an awesome event, but also spending the day on ice skates with children who were really excited to have a fun day just for them. What we do doesn't only help our community, but it helps us be more aware of our community and it's fun!
